All religions teach that if you do this you will have God’s approval except for one!!
What is the one thing? You can earn a right standing with God by being good enough. Just live right and you’ll make it. Do enough good things or do certain things and you’ll be saved.
Yes, all religions teach that you can save yourself by going to church, giving to the poor, sacrificing pleasures, obeying your god, worshiping, praying, the list goes on & on. But notice that these are human made religions because they put humanity at the center and make us sovereign as to our destiny and how we will attain it! Yes, we can save ourselves!! It appeals to the sinful part of humanity; our pride that thinks we have something that is good apart from God.
However what does the only true God that exists have to say about the way we gain His approval.
Galatians 2:16-21 “Yet, we know that people don’t receive God’s approval because of their own efforts to live according to a set of standards, but only by believing in Jesus Christ. So we also believed in Jesus Christ in order to receive God’s approval by faith in Christ and not because of our own efforts.
People won’t receive God’s approval because of their own efforts to live according to a set of standards. When I tried to obey the law’s standards, those laws killed me. As a result, I live in a relationship with God. I have been crucified with Christ. I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live I live by believing in God’s Son, who loved me and took the punishment for my sins. I don’t reject God’s kindness. If we receive God’s approval by obeying laws, then Christ’s death was pointless.” God’s Word
Jesus Christ, God’s Son fulfilled all of God’s standards for you and me and also fulfilled the law of death in our place so we could have God’s approval based on our acceptance of who God accepted. God said “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”
Humanity has earned the curse of death but Christ paid our curse on the cross with His death. God raised Christ from the dead as the proof of God’s acceptance of Christ’s death for us and the evidence that He will give us Jesus Christ’s eternal life and raise us up also if we believe in Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:3,4 “Christ died to take away our sins as the Scriptures predicted. He was placed in a tomb. He was brought back to life on the third day as the Scriptures predicted.” God’s Word
If you reject God’s kindness of providing you the way of salvation through Jesus Christ, no matter how good you may try to obey the Ten Commandments or any other set of standards; you will die in your sins and you will not have God’s approval nor His Eternal Life!!
Romans 6:23 “The payment for sin is death, but the gift that God freely gives is everlasting life found in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John 6: 40 “My Father wants all those who see the Son and believe in Him to have eternal life. He wants to bring them back to life on the last day.” God’s Word
